Description of the Cockles from the Rías Gallegas
Our Cockles come from the cold waters of the Rías Gallegas. They have a delicate sea flavor and a tender, succulent texture. Seafood lovers consider them a delicacy in many parts of the world.
The species of Cockles that we use in Serrats is Cerastoderma Edule, its whitish color and orange-yellow beak are a consequence of its freshness and origin.
Nutritional properties of the Cockles
By consuming canned Cockles, we acquire a multitude of vitamins, proteins and minerals. Vitamins A, B, C and E strengthen the immune system and increase defenses. Specifically, vitamin B12 promotes mental agility and combats memory loss.
The high iron content of canned Cockles helps prevent diseases such as anemia. The amount of calcium contained in Cockles favors the good condition of bones and teeth. Capture of the Cockles

Then, the shell is removed from the cockles and the cleaning process begins. This process is essential since good cleaning, together with excellent quality raw materials, is one of the keys to making the result different and excellent.
Finally, the coverage is added. At Serrats, we add our own artisanal infusion to the canned cockles that adds some small nuances to their natural flavor.
How to preserve Cockles
